You Can Book Flights for this Argentinian Airline Using NFTs

Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) have demonstrated that they can be used for so many things. One of these is in issuance of airline tickets as is being demonstrated by this Argentinian airline. The company, Flybondi is issuing NFT e-tickets in partnership with NFT ticketing company TravelX.

From now on, anyone buying Flybondi e-tickets can own, trade, or sell them as NFTs on the Algorand blockchain. Passengers can buy the tickets ahead without concluding travel plans and can sell them if they change their mind about travelling.

“With this launch, we seek to generate a positive impact in the aviation industry through innovation and an application of blockchain technology. Changing the rules of the game is never easy, but we know that it is our objective to evolve and offer our passengers a new stage of the freedom to fly,” Flybondi CEO Mauricio Sana said in a recent press release.

NFTs Have Come to Stay

Looking at the many applications of NFT technology, it is safe to say they have come to stay. Humans are now forming digital identities everywhere, and there is no better technology for maintaining identity than an NFT. This is because it cannot be duplicated, making it counterfeit proof.

The same concept is applied in issuing these tickets which cannot be faked, but whose ownership can be transferred from one person to another, provided the person has the genuine access to the NFT.

In the future, it is expected that NFTs will be used to track property ownership in case of disputes as well as many other applications.

Other Airlines Issuing NFT Tickets

Flybondi isn’t the first airline to issue NFT tickets. Austrian airline Qantas had done the same thing in 2022. Spanish airline Air Europa had in 2022 also worked with TravelX on a special NFT – ticket project, so this is becoming more popular.
